CLASSICAL EDUCATION is a time-tested, three-stage approach to learning that mirrors the natural development of a child’s mind and curiosity.

  • The Grammar Stage (K-4th Grade) is focused on knowledge. In these years, students learn the basic factual content - the "grammar" - of any given subject. Using chants, songs, and rhythmic verse, students memorize hundreds of facts - everything from parts of speech to math facts to bones of the body.

  • The Logic Stage (5th-8th Grade) is focused on understanding. Early-adolescent children love to question, contradict and argue. Building on these abilities, the Logic Stage fosters inquiry, discussion, and debate, with an emphasis on reason and analysis.

  • The Rhetoric Stage (9th-12th Grade) is focused on wisdom. In these years, students learn to reason critically and express themselves persuasively in speech and in writing. Students in the Rhetoric Stage at TCA will be challenged toward leadership in every area of life as they learn to express themselves clearly and convincingly.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION affirms the core doctrines of the Christian faith (the Apostles’ Creed) and seeks to shape students in accordance with these truths.

Education is never value-neutral. All teaching is formative in nature. Education is not merely the transfer of information; it is the ordering of the soul’s affections in accordance with some ultimate desire.

Therefore, a self-consciously Christian education must do more than impart a biblical worldview. It must shape desires. It must awaken Christian imagination. It must form Christian love. This is the kind of education we are committed to at Trinity Classical Academy. We want to partner with parents to raise wise, virtuous human beings who love and serve God.

COLLABORATIVE EDUCATION is a revolutionary teaching model that allows parents to take a direct leadership role in the education of their children while still reaping the benefits of a structured environment. Students attend class on-campus with professional teachers 2-3 days per week, and then receive detailed at-home assignments to complete under the guidance of parents.

Collaborative-style programs have grown rapidly over the past few decades. What began with just a few pioneers in Florida and Texas has multiplied into over 200 collaborative-style academies across the country. And research shows that the model works: high-school seniors from University-Model Schools® (a particular kind of collaborative program) "averaged equally high or higher scores than traditional, comprehensive Christian school seniors on all three common standardized exams" (ICCTE Journal, 2014).
